A bad or malfunctioning ABS sensor will cause your car to misread the wheel speed at a particular wheel, and cause the ABS system to not engage properly when needed.

ABS sensors are typically a very easy part to replace. They are typically held in place at the wheel hub by a bolt, and they fit into a slot or hole in the wheel hub assembly. Then there is a wire that runs to a junction under the wheel well. Just simply unplug the old wire and replace it with the new one.
